This showed that Pakistani air defenses can't stop Indian standoff missiles even when Pakistani defenses are at their highest alert, using their mainly Chinese air defence platforms. Paints the Pakistan military an extremely poor light, globally. There may have been Indian Air Force losses - but that's not the point. Attrition is part of military action; our brave volunteers know this when they sign up.

The point is - this can be done, and individual buildings can be targeted from the Indian side of the border/LoC, representing a step-change in capabilities from 2019 - when targeting data and ISR (Intel, Surveillance, Recon) was a deficiency. That a few interesting Synthetic Aperture Radar Indian satellites have become operational since then, is no coincidence. 

There are a lot more missiles where these came from, and India knows where Asim Munir's generals live. Pakistan does not have a reciprocal capability. They know this, and that's enough. Body counts aren't what we are after. This is strategic signaling.

Some basics concerning the press briefing:

I already see a lot of posts questioning what was and was not included in the press briefing. Some say we have not responded to various claims and are therefore hiding something, or that we have not provided specific details. I believe we need to keep the following in mind:

There is a fine balance between speed and accuracy. More so in war reporting, where the first reports of any battle are invariably confused - understandable, because the person  
reporting live has his/her life in danger. If we wait too long to get the facts, Pak will put their story out there first. If we report too early, we may be wrong and will lose credibility in our further reports.

Our objective was to destroy X targets. It takes at the least several hours to know if they  
were hit. Like I said in another post, we are not in a position to take live videos from the  
sites, or send drones in advance and lose surprise. The time taken to report these strikes and have the confidence to report they were hit, was the same as the 2016 surgical strikes post Uri. If we intended to hit 10 targets and got 9, we need to factor that into our reporting.

The immediate job of the press conference was to report the strike on the targets, without revealing info that can help the enemy in an ongoing operation. If we report a loss which the enemy does not as yet know about, it helps them. If we say X missile was fired, they can calculate how many we have left. If the number and type of aircraft are revealed, they will know if our Rafale squadron in the East was used, or that X missile is compatible with Y aircraft.  
Pak will figure it out eventually, which is when more details will be announced.

Operations will involve casualties. We announce all casualties (unlike Pak, which does not take back its soldiers bodies), but the operation comes first. If we lose an aircraft or pilot, we will know, in an age when everyone has a smartphone and it takes time, especially in rugged terrain for the govt to sanatize a crash site. Equally, it is easy to fabricate fake pics.  
We also lost civilians in Pak firing into civilian areas across the LOC. Tragic as that was, announcing their deaths was not the agenda of the presser.

The aircraft involved in the Op were not just those that carried missiles. There were aircraft that flew cover against Pak fighters, electronic warfare fighters, fighters that flew decoy missions, refuelling tankers, helicopters ready to rescue downed pilots etc. If an aircraft has been lost, it won't be announced in the middle of an operation - which may continue.

I just browsed through the Pakistani Sub and it is Chaos over there, I was glad to see some moderate voices for Peace, but most were deriding Indians as Cowards and Baying for blood. It does not help that Civilians were, Allegedly, harmed.

I fear we may be stepping closer towards total War against Pakistan, I hope I am wrong, but there will be retaliation and they too may target Cities in the name of Revenge.

I’m an American with no ties to India or Pakistan.  But I remember who hid Osama bin Laden.  I’ve seen what other, similar terrorist groups have done in countries ranging from Nigeria to the Philippines, Israel, and my own USA.  It’s a pity Pakistan has nuclear weapons, but I support India’s right to defend itself.  Good hunting.
